Batch 4 - Production Update #6 - August

Making progress

Hello again everyone! It's definitely time for another update email.

TLDR: We're running behind schedule for delivery.
I'm hoping to have all orders shipped by the end of September.

It's another optimistic plan, so hopefully there's no more unexpected delays.

Thanks for your all your support, understanding and patience so far, we're in the final stretch!

A series of unfortunate events

Setback 1

The last month has been a back to back series of setbacks that I really hope have reached their end.

At the start of August I cut my hand, requiring stitches and a full hand bandage. It took about a week before the bandage could be removed.
During that week I did what I could one handed, and had a friend come to help the whole week. But as you can imagine we shipped less than expected. (My hand is fine now, just a new scar)

Setback 2

Two days after my hand was back, I was booked in for a surgery as mentioned in the last update.

The surgery went well, but it took a full two weeks of recovery at home. I'd secretly hoped for a quicker recovery so I could get back to shipping, but it definitely took the full predicted time.
Who would have known the doctors know the accurate time frame!

Setback 3

Excited to get back into it after the surgery, I had a few productive days of work before I was hit hard with a bad sickness.

Each day I hoped to feel better, but it kept dragging on day after day for yet another week.

I'm at the tail end of this now, and starting to get back into the swing of things.

Next steps

After what has essentially been an entire month of delays, I'm just going to go straight back into the busy work of building, packing and shipping orders.

Based on the number of orders remaining, and days left in September. I should have all the boxes shipped by the end of the month.

This isn't leaving much wiggle room though. So if you have a deposit order it may be in October as more unexpected things inevitably happen. (Hopefully nothing health related again)

Thanks again for all your support and understanding through this process. This last month has really shown me how running a small business with so much relying on my personal health can really come to crawl. I'm grateful that everyone I've talked to has been kind and understanding of the situation.

Going forward I'm looking into how I can reduce the reliance of so many processes on me. If Batch 5 anything like this one, I'll look at hiring and training a part time employee who can take a lot of the workload and keep parts of the business running in the background when I'm unable to.
